A British-Born Theatre & Film Actor & Producer
Born in 1968 in the UK, Daniel Craig is one of the great international movie stars of this generation, and is one of the many movie stars you might have seen while hanging out in Douglas County, GA! While the first love for this Cheshire, UK actor & producer was that of being on stage in English theatre productions, most folks would agree he has taken to movies quite naturally. Known for his combination of rugged, compact physical features and a deep, silky-smooth voice, Daniel Craig entered mainstream American cinematic notoriety in the early 2000’s when he landed roles in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Road to Perdition. After being nominated as “Best British Actor,” for his role in Layer Cake, the road was paved for the biggest leap of Daniel Craig’s career: he was chosen to be the next James Bond!
The seasoned actor quickly rose to the occasion, delivering an award-winning performance in Casino Royale. For his performance in his first James Bond film, Craig took home awards like “Best Actor,” and “Breakthrough Performance of the Year.” From this point forward, Daniel Craig would be one of the most well-known international actors on the planet. He has since starred in multiple more James Bond films, as well as box office hits like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Cowboys & Aliens, and Logan Lucky, the latter of which was filmed largely in Douglas County. It’s exciting to think that an international actor of this caliber (along with Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, Seth MacFarlane, Riley Keough, Katie Holmes, Dwight Yoakam, and Hilary Swank) would be spotted recently on camera in Douglas County, GA!
You might know about his 14 award wins and 31 nominations, but you might not know that Daniel Craig has the dubious honor of being a two-time nominee for “Most Egregious Age Difference Between the Leading Man and the Love Interest for Spectre (with Lea Seydoux) and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (with Rooney Mara). It’s hard to tell if the “Alliance of Women Film Journalists” were truly upset by Craig’s pairing with a younger actress, or it the award was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Regardless, it’s one of the more unique award nominations we’ve ever heard of. With more James Bond films set to open soon, and more greatly anticipated movies already in production, there are unlimited opportunities for Daniel Craig to continue his already astounding career.
